Gwyl Plant Cymru
Gwyl Plant Cymru was a non-competitive festival
open to all youth groups.
The first Gwyl Plant Cymru was
held in 1992, at the Garden Festival in Ebbw Vale,
for this was an ideal opportunity to extend an
invitation to children throughout Wales to join in a
festival of Welsh folk dance. In 1994 it was held at Cardiff
Castle, in 1996 on Anglesey, in 1998 at Porthcawl, in July 2000 at Rhyl
and the last Gwyl Plant Cymru took place in Cardiff in June 2003.
Gwyl
Plant Cymru has led to festivals in the other
counties of Wales.
For
instance, there is a Gwyl Plant Morgannwg each
year.
